The recent surge in violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has worsened the country’s already dire humanitarian situation, yet it rarely makes headlines.
Feza Damani has been forced from a comfortable life of farming - into a life of chaos, by violence.
Her husband was killed when her family was journeying to Goma amid the bloodshed in September 2023 – she couldn’t even stop to bury him, causing her immense anguish.
She lost her home, her livelihood and her life-partner to armed conflicts.
Now a single-parent, she, and hundreds of thousands of other people, caught in the crossfire of further clashes, are in desperate need of basic survival essentials: food, clean water, shelter, and care items.
Oxfam is on the ground in DRC and other emergency hotspots, ensuring immediate needs can be met.
This ongoing crisis is just one of many hidden emergencies happening across the globe.
